Steph was selected as a Batonbearer in recognition of the work of her small charity, Stories of Hope and Home, which supports refugees.
She is an incredible advocate for supporting, befriending and standing in solidarity with people who have arrived here from abroad who are seeking sanctuary.
Steph, who lives in Sandwell, carried the Baton in Smethwick.
Steph says: “My life has been immeasurably enriched by the amazing people from all over the world that I now call my friends and even consider to be family.
“I think the Queen’s Baton Relay and the whole Commonwealth Games is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the warmth and welcome that we in the West Midlands offer to people from all over the world; while at the same time shining a light on some of the struggles and challenges people who arrive here in our region are facing.”
