Oliver, who attends Bristnall Hall Academy in Oldbury, carried the baton in Bearwood.
Along with his parents and sister Emily, Oliver helped organise a street collection for Smethwick Foodbank during lockdown.
The family collected donations from neighbours’ doorsteps once a week and made a huge delivery to Smethwick Foodbank.
Once restrictions were lifted, Oliver and his family continued to collect donations that neighbours dropped in their porch – and again delivered hundreds of items to the foodbank to pass on to families in need of assistance.
Oliver’s mum Katie said: “It really was a family effort, but we couldn’t have done it without our neighbours on our road.
“We made new friends through it. Oliver is really carrying the baton for all the amazing people of Bearwood (there were many street collections) who weekly did the same as us and blessed their community.
“We see him running as a representative of our community.”
