Jodie Stimpson, Commonwealth Games legend and Batonbearer

Jodie, from Langley, is a two times Gold medal-winning athlete for Team England at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games (Individual and Relay).

Jodie is one of the best athletes that England and Great Britain have ever had, and this result was the pinnacle of her course career. Jodie is a very proud Yam Yam and loves that the Commonwealth Games has come to Sandwell and Birmingham. Jodie trained at Langley Swimming Centre for many years.

She said: “My dad taught me to swim when I was four years old and then took me to my first local triathlon when I was eight. I never wanted to do anything else with my life than be an athlete and represent where I am from and make my family proud.

“I lost my dad just over two years ago and I dedicate everything I was able to do in my career to my parents. Still to this day nothing has changed, I still have the same driving force behind me that I am trying to take into long course triathlon and I am proud to say I’m from Oldbury – a Black Country lass!”
