Liz has been involved in swimming for 60 years.
Well-known as a water polo coach with Warley Wasps, Liz is a key figure in Sandwell’s swimming history.
When Liz checked out the new Sandwell Aquatics Centre before the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, she was speechless.
“It just is so amazing. It’s usually something that happens somewhere else.”
She says the centre – the only purpose-built venue for the Games – will mean swimming champions of the future could train to Olympic level right here in Smethwick.
Warley Wasps was founded back in 1888 at Rolfe Street Baths in Smethwick. Liz has been involved in swimming locally since joining Smethwick Swimming Club when she was 11.
