Emily Readman – Batonbearer, Sports Star and Role Model

Year 11 student Emily from Wednesbury has overcome so much adversity in the past five years to become the intelligent, thoughtful and role model she is today.

Emily is head of her school’s sports council which means she is always on hand to advise and support younger students. She also helps run lunchtime sports clubs, which has helped to increase participation across the school.

And Emily is part of the LGBTQI+ council and this has helped her to accept her true self while supporting others around her.

On carrying the Queen’s Baton in her home town of Wednesbury, Emily says: “I am honoured to be representing Sandwell in this once in a lifetime opportunity.”
