Liam Sheridan is the Director of West Brom Basketball Club and he’s one of the Batonbearers celebrating sport in the Queen’s Baton Relay.
Liam is passionate about showing young people the benefits that sport can bring.
He works tirelessly for the Sandwell community to ensure young people from all backgrounds can participate in basketball. The club also sources funding so the activities provided are as affordable as possible.
The club is so popular and successful that it has a waiting list of more than 100 young people.
Liam has developed a real diversity in his workforce to ensure those from diverse communities have role models.
He says: “I am really excited to have been nominated as a Batonbearer. I am extremely thankful to receive this opportunity and thankful to all of the members, coaches and staff at our basketball club, without them I wouldn’t be given this opportunity.
“Our club started in 2014 with myself and 10 local young people. We now have a team of coaches delivering club, community and school sessions with 200 members across our various age groups.
“I am really proud of everyone at West Brom Basketball Club and I hope being a Batonbearer will raise awareness of the great work we all do at the club.”
