Blind Dave Heeley is a record-breaking marathon runner, fundraiser extraordinaire and an all-round great bloke.
Dave, who is from West Bromwich, lost his sight in his twenties but has never let this hold him back.
He’s raised more than £3million pounds for good causes and is one of Sandwell’s most recognisable Bostin People.
In 2008, Dave became the first blind man to run seven marathons on seven continents in seven days.
Dave is a lifelong West Bromwich Albion supporter. He drew a huge crowd when he carried the Baton in the Queen’s Baton Relay in West Bromwich.
Blind Dave said: “To be part of the buzz and excitement of Birmingham 2022 as a Batonbearer in the Queen’s Baton Relay is a great honour.
“To represent my community, to represent Sandwell on the world stage, that is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”
Dave has recently completed an 800-mile tandem cycling challenge – escaping from notorious prison of war camp Colditz in Germany and cycling all the way back to the Hawthorns in aid of The Albion Foundation.
Dave – we think you’re Bostin!
