Special Olympics Sandwell win at badminton competition

A huge well done to the team at Special Olympics Sandwell who won lots of medals and ribbons at a national badminton competition.

Special Olympics Sandwell provides sport and leisure opportunities for local people with learning disabilities.

Their fantastic chair Norma Hyde was a Batonbearer who took part in the Queen’s Baton Relay which came through Sandwell before the Commonwealth Games this summer.

We’re very proud of the 11 Special Olympics Sandwell players who won 15 medals and 15 runners-up ribbons at the event, which was held at WJ Sports Centre, at the Walsall Campus of University of Wolverhampton.

The players competed over two days with players from across the country as part of the Special Olympics Great Britain Summer Series of Sport.

A big shout-out to Sandwell players Natalie, Caroline, Mandy, Shannon, David, David, Darren, Paul, Michael, Matthew and Kraig. And also to the volunteers and badminton coaches who helped with training and competitions.
