A Bostin Place full of Bostin People – The 26th Birmingham Girls Brigade, Warley Baptist Church

The 26th Birmingham Girls Brigade are based at Warley Baptist Church and will celebrate their 80th birthday this year.

The brigade, set up in 1942 as as the Girls Life Brigades, is run by female volunteers who attended the group when they were younger.

Many of the brigade’s volunteers now go along with their own daughters.

Volunteer Sam Watson says: “We have approximately 45 girls aged 4-18. We do weekly activities at our Monday night meetings and take some of the girls to camp for a week in August.

“The girls do all sorts of activities in their sections or across the company, from games to craft to litter picking our local area.

“We are very lucky to have been a company for 80 years and looking forward to many more.”
